41. συνηγμενων δε των φαρισαιων επηρωτησεν αυτους ο ιησους Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, 42. λεγων τι υμιν δοκει περι του χριστου τινος υιος εστιν λεγουσιν αυτω του δαυιδ saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.” 43. λεγει αυτοις πως ουν δαυιδ εν πνευματι κυριον αυτον καλει λεγων He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying, 44. ειπεν ο[1] κυριος τω κυριω μου καθου εκ δεξιων μου εως αν θω τους εχθρους σου υποκατω[2] των ποδων σου ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet’? 45. ει ουν δαυιδ καλει αυτον κυριον πως υιος αυτου εστιν “If David then calls him Lord, how is he his son?” 46. και ουδεις εδυνατο αυτω αποκριθηναι λογον ουδε ετολμησεν τις απ εκεινης της ημερας επερωτησαι αυτον ουκετι 22And no one was able to answer him a word, nor did any one dare to ask him any more questions from that day on. [1] NA-Text omits the definite article before the first occurrence of “Lord” [2] NA-Text reads “under” (Gr.: υποκατω) instead of “υποποδιον” and renders “until I put your enemies under your feet”. This reading is supported by codices א, B, D, G, L, U, Z, Γ, Θ, family of manuscripts ƒ13, minuscules 22, 579 and 892, 6 old Latin codices, the Curetonian Syriac, the Harklean Syriac, the Sahidic Coptic and the Bohairic Coptic version. The TR is supported by codices K, W, Π, 0102, 0161, family of manuscripts ƒ1, minuscules 13, 33 and 1342, the Byzantine minuscules, 8 old Latin codices, the Peshitta and the middle Ӕgyptian Coptic version, Chrysostom and Theophylact. The Byzantine text shows clear signs of harmonization with the Greek text of the Septuagint in psalm 110:1. The Greek text and the translation have been corrected, following the NA-Text.
