[6] NA-Text and Vg-St read “ιωδα” (Latin equivalent: “Ioda”), which
is supported by codices א and B. The TR is supported
by codex Θ, the
Byzantine manuscripts and Theophylact.
[7] NA-Text, PT, WPF35
and M-Text read “ιωαναν”. This reading is supported
by codex B. Codex א reads “ιωναν”. The TR is supported by codex
Θ, the vulgate of
Stuttgart, the Clementine vulgate and Theophylact. No need of spelling
adjustment.
[8] NA-Text and Vg-St read “ελμαδαμ” (Latin equivalent: “Helmadan”). This reading is
supported by codices א, B, L, N, (070), minuscules 33 and 1424, the old Latin codices and
Theophylact. The TR is supported by codices A, (Γ), Θ, Ψ, 0102,
family of manuscripts ƒ1, (family of manuscripts ƒ13), the Byzantine manuscripts, the old Latin codices
itaur, itf and itq and the Harklean Syriac
version. The Greek spelling and the translation have been adjusted following the
NA-Text.
[9] NA-Text and Vg-St read “ιησου” (Latin equivalent: “Iesu”). This reading is
supported by codices א, B, Θ and Theophylact (ιησω). The
Greek text and the translation have been adjusted following the NA-Text.
[10] NA-Text and Vg-St read “ιωριμ” (Latin equivalent: “Iorim”). This reading is
supported by codex א. The TR is supported by codices B, Θ and Theophylact (ιωρημ). The TR spelling stands as
the correct reading.
[11] NA-Text reads “μαθθατ”.
[12] NA-Text, WPF35,
PT and M-Text read “συμεων”. The Greek text has been
corrected following the NA-Text and the M-Text. See footnote on Luke 2:25.
[13] NA-Text and WPF35
read “ιωναμ”, which is supported by
codices א, B and
Theophylact. The TR is supported by codex Θ and the
Byzantine manuscripts. The Greek text and the translation have been adjusted
following the NA-Text.
[14] NA-Text and Vg-St read “ελιακιμ” (Latin equivalent: “Eliachim”), which is supported by the vulgate. The TR is supported by codices א, B, D, Θ and Theophylact. The TR stands as the correct reading.
[15] NA-Text and Vg-St read “μεννα” (Latin equivalent: “Menna”), which is supported by
codices א and B.
M-Text, PT and WPF35 read “μαιναν”, which is supported by
codex Θ and Theophylact. Erasmus
first and fifth editions of the TR read “μεναμ”. Then Stephanus corrected
this reading to “μαιναν”, which was maintained by
Beza. Scrivener reverted to the reading found in Erasmus. “μαιναν” has a better support and has been preferred in the
Greek text.
[16] NA-Text reads “ναθαμ”.
[17] NA-Text reads “ιωβηδ”.
[18] NA-Text reads “βοος”, which has a good support from the majuscules, but
has not been preserved in any of the Byzantine compilations (M-Text, WPF35
and PT), nor in the Latin compilations (Clementine vulgate or vulgate of
Stuttgart). Also, both the Latin and the Greek columns in the Complutensian
Polyglot read like the TR. So, the Latin and the Greek churches do not appear
to have received “βοος” as the correct reading
here.
[19] NA-Text reads “σαλα”. The collective witness of the majuscules of all
text-types, the minuscules and the versions are overwhelmingly against this
reading.
[20] NA-Text adds “του αδμιν” (the son of Admin).
[21] NA-Text reads “αρνι” (Arni).
[22] NA-Text, M-Text, WPF35,
PT and Vg-St read “σερουχ” (Latin equivalent: “Seruch”),
which is supported by codices א, B, D (σερουκ), Θ and the Byzantine
manuscripts. The TR is supported by Theophylact. The Greek text has been
adjusted following the NA-text and the M-Text.
[23] M-Text reads “φαλεγ”, which is supported by codices A, K, Γ, 0102, both families of manuscripts ƒ1 and ƒ13, minuscules 565, 700 and the Byzantine manuscripts. The TR is supported by codices א, B, D, Θ and Theophylact (φαλεχ). No need of correction.
[24] NA-Text reads “καιναμ” (also in verse 37).
[25] NA-Text reads “ιαρετ”.
